As part of a special Hispanic Outreach program, Worth the Wait presents its 3rd Annual Rites of Passage Program for Latina youth in the community. The event will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 20, at the Chase Tower, dowtown (9th floor). The seminar will also target the Latinas' parents as well, teaching them their specific roles in their daughters' Quiceañera celebration. All girls who are interested in attending the event MUST pre-register, and space is limited. WTW will provide lunch for all attendees and parents. For more information or to register, contact Samantha or Jeremiah at 806-326-1070.
A new study from the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine medical journal shows that abstinence-based education has significant long-term effects on delaying and reducing teen sexual activity among middle school students. Worth the Wait is currently working on a community-wide fundraiser called Amarillo on Board. We have partnered with a company called Contrado, Inc., in which we are producing "opoly" style games that saturate the community of Amarillo. The games will feature Amarillo businesses on the board as the real estate properties. The games are a unique way to bring the community together to make history, and Worth the Wait is so excited to be heading up this project. The games will be finished with production by late July 2009, and we will have a launch in August when the games will be available for purchase to the entire community. So keep an eye out for more info about this project. For more information about Amarillo on Board, or if your business is interested in purhcasing a property sqaure, or to find out what businesses have come on board so far, check out our fundraiser, Amarillo On Board.
You've seen him as a Dalls Cowboys football player in the 90s, and even doin the Cha Cha Cha on the recent 2009 Season of Dancing With the Stars, but now the community will have a chance to see Michael Irvin in person right here in Amarillo.

In 2004, Texas taxpayers spent 1 billion dollars, the most of any state, on teen childbearing. The Texas Panhandle consistently has some of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the state. Teen pregnancy has a huge impact on our community as it is closely associated with poverty, single parenthood, reduced rate of high school and college attainment and reduced lifetime income.
Worth The Wait is not just for teens. We offer many different opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. Enter your email address below to stay up to date!
